PhD Cătălina-Ionica Ciobanu attended the doctoral school from „Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University” of Iasi, where she obtained a PhD in Chemistry with thesis “Benzene derivatives 1,3-disubstitutes with liquid crystallines properties”. The purpose of the research was to development of the range of bent core liquid crystals by synthesis and characterization about new structures, which incorporates mesogenic systems with azo linking groups. The research direction started in 2013 at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, aims the synthesis of peptides, extraction of protein from different biological materials, and their characterization by different methods of spectroscopy: NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Mass spectrometry and fluorescence studies. Study of liquid crystal-based biosensor depending on the interaction between liquid crystals and peptides represents a continuity in the research field to PhD Cătălina-Ionica Ciobanu.
